• About Us •

Watts & Associates are specialist auctioneers with a wealth of experience in hosting and managing auction events for single and multiple vendors throughout the UK. We also hold regular dedicated auctions from our auction facility in Carlton, Barnsley. Our expertise includes contractors plant and construction equipment, grounds maintenance equipment, agricultural machinery, vehicles, and light industrial equipment.

We can also stage special sales upon request from anywhere in the country and host and manage timed on-line auctions, private treaties and sealed tender.

Founded in 1995 by Martin Watts, the regular collective machinery auctions moved from Monk Bretton, Barnsley, to Hemingbrough near Selby.  In 2006, Martin sold the company to John Roebuck and Colin Crossland who have kept the Watts & Associates good name and honest reputation while adopting new and forward-thinking improvements including implementing new bidding technology.

A rapid growth in auction sales led to the acquisition of a larger site in Carlton, close to where the auction began in Barnsley! After extensive redevelopment, the first auction was held there in April 2011 and by 2014 the facility handled over 30,000 lots of machinery.

Today, further growth has seen the site expand to 6 acres and our 8 regular sales each year attract in excess of 3,500 lots; equipment ranges from telehandlers and excavators, power generators and compressors to tractors and mowers, power tools and gardening equipment; typically from repeat customers, including national hire companies, main dealerships, traders, manufacturers and end-users. The auction facility includes 7,500 square feet of covered space and a large loading area complete with fixed and mobile loading ramps. The facility has a 24-hour manned security system and is operated 365 days per year.

Our buyers are equally as diverse and come from across the UK and from overseas. The use of the internet and real time bidding coupled with our excellent loading facilities make overseas distance buying at our auctions an attractive and viable proposition.
