About Us

“Watts & Associates (Auctioneers) Limited is a customer driven company dedicated in promoting value by developing, maintaining and enhancing working relationships with all of its customers.”

Watts & Associates are specialist auctioneers with a wealth of experience in hosting and managing auction events for single and multiple vendors throughout the UK. We also hold regular dedicated auctions from our auction facility in Carlton, Barnsley. Our expertise includes contractors plant and construction equipment, grounds maintenance equipment, agricultural machinery, vehicles and light industrial equipment.

Company History

The company was formed in 1995 by Martin Watts who began hosting regular collective machinery auctions in Monk Bretton, Barnsley, later re-siting the auction to Hemingbrough near Selby.

In 2006 Martin sold the company to John Roebuck and Colin Crossland who have kept the Watts & Associates good name and honest reputation while adopting new and forward thinking improvements including implementing new technology within the auction interface.

Due to a rapid growth in auction sales, we acquired a larger site in Carlton, close to our original roots. In April 2011 after an extensive phase of redevelopment, the first auction was held there. In 2013 the facility handled 30,000 lots of machinery.

General Sales

Our general sales are held every 5 weeks and attract in excess of 3,500 lots per sale. Equipment ranges from telehandlers and excavators, power generators and compressors to tractors and mowers, power tools and gardening equipment. The auction facility covers 8 acres of secured area which includes 7,000 square feet of covered space, a large loading area, fixed and mobile loading ramps and car parking spaces for up to 120 visitors. The facility has a 24 hour manned security system and is operated 365 days per year.

The equipment passing through our general auctions is typically from repeat customers. They include national hire companies, main dealerships, traders, manufacturers and end-users.

Internet and Real Time Bidding

Our buyers are equally as diverse and come from across the UK and from overseas. The use of the internet and real time bidding coupled with our excellent loading facilities make overseas distance buying at our auctions an attractive and viable proposition.

We undertake a variety of auctions and can stage them from anywhere in the country. We commonly use live auctions supported by web-based internet bidding. The platform we use is provided by BidPath. Additionally we host and manage timed on-line auctions, private treaties and sealed tender.
